(Senior) Scientist, Biology

Guide Therapeutics is solving the challenge of DNA and RNA delivery. Founded by experts in RNA delivery, Guide Therapeutics has assembled a team of specialists in manufacturing, target selection, drug development, and business development.

Summary

Guide Therapeutics is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist to join our team. The primary responsibilities for this position will be leading research and development efforts for therapeutic delivery of genetic medicines through novel lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) using in vitro and in vivo biological assays and materials characterization techniques to develop mechanistic insights related to LNP-mediated nucleic acid delivery.

  • Design and execute in vitro and in vivo experiments to determine efficacy of LNPs
  • Formulate and characterize LNPs using bioanalytical and characterization techniques
  • Use and develop assays using fluorescent-activated cells sorting (FACS), ELISA, MSD and other assays to support therapeutic pipeline, as necessary
  • Assay development for new targets and/or techniques to ensure quality and consistency
  • Prepare organic and aqueous reagents and solutions under sterile conditions while minimizing RNase contamination
  • Operate and maintain multiple laboratory instruments
  • Use foundational knowledge to formulate, purify and assess the biophysical (DLS, zeta potential, fluorescence) properties of LNPs
  • Assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality, including lab equipment maintenance and the ordering and receiving of lab supplies
  • Ability to work effectively within a broader cross-functional team
  • Conduct experiments, independently and in collaboration with colleagues in support of project goals
  • Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry with 2 years of experience
  • A background in cell biology, molecular biology and biological processes is required
  • Strong understanding of nanoparticle-mediated delivery (current challenges and barriers to efficacy particularly in vivo)
  • Experience in immunological assays (ELISA, MSD for plasma biomarkers, ADA assays)
  • Flow cytometry and panel design experience is required, sorting experience is not necessary
  • Previous experience with formulation and characterization of LNPs is desired, but not required
  • Cell culture technique and cell-based assay design
  • Follow and write standard operating procedures
  • Documentation of results and data
  • Ensure safety and product quality throughout the laboratory environment
  • Broad skill set that enables communication across multiple disciplines (biology, chemistry)
  • Analytical experience with chromatography is a plus
  • Attention to detail, exceptional time management, and effective communication skills
  • Industry experience is strongly preferred
